Objective:
To test the impact of barrier reduction through process decoupling upon compliance among hospital employees with annual health assessment (AHA) requirements.
Methods:
Collated monthly compliance rates compared monthly compliance rates over time (2022-2025). An interrupted time series regression assessed the impact of a January 2025 process change (PC), decoupling AHA from respiratory mask fitting, intended to reduce employee barriers.
Results:
Annual mean compliance rates ranged from 76.94% in 2022 to 88.70% in 2025. The interrupted time series revealed a nearly 1-point increase per month in the post-PC period (B=.974, p=.003). The reversal appears to have begun before formal PC implementation, when chart auditing began.
Conclusion:
A simplification of process impacted compliance rates, likely through barrier reduction for employees.
