Abstract:
Climate change is a public health crisis that disproportionately harms marginalized, frontline, and fenceline communities, deepening long-standing health inequities. This article examines nursing's critical role in advancing climate and environmental justice, drawing on the profession's history, ethical mandate, and trusted position in society. Using the Social-Ecological Model, it illustrates how nurses can advocate for equitable, climate-informed care across individual, interpersonal, community, organizational, and policy levels. The article argues that integrating climate justice into nursing education, practice, and advocacy is essential for protecting health, building community resilience, and advancing health equity for current and future generations.
