Abstract:
The depth of an obstructed collection, the location of pus and the cause of peritonitis are often only approximately determined clinically. Formal imaging is frequently slow, unavailable after hours or inaccessible in resource-limited settings and is usually interpreted by clinicians who have not examined the patient. Point-of-care ultrasound performed by the treating gynaecologist addresses these limitations.
