Abstract:
A NiPc/MXene hybrid constructs axial electron-transfer channels between molecular Ni centers and conductive carbide layers. The hybrid approaches Pt/C for the HER, with accelerated kinetics, increased mass activity and reduced charge-transfer resistance. X-ray absorption measurements identify reduced Ni/Ti valence and interfacial Ni-Ti/Ti-C/N coordination. DFT reveals interfacial charge accumulation, continuous Fermi-level states, Ni-Ti bonding and optimized hydrogen adsorption. These results establish axial electronic coupling as a strategy for activating molecular catalysts in AEMWE.

Electron Transport Chain
The electron transport chain involves a series of protein complexes on the inner mitochondrial membrane that undergo a series of redox reactions. At the end of this chain, the electrons reduce...
The Z-Scheme of Electron Transport in Photosynthesis
Photosystem I
Both these photosystems work in concert. An excited electron from PSII is relayed to PSI via an electron transport chain in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast, which is comprised of the carrier molecule plastoquinone, the dual-protein cytochrome complex, and plastocyanin. As electrons move between PSII and PSI, they lose energy and must be re-energized...
