Abstract:
In conclusion, lipidomics, fatty acid metabolic engineering, and biocatalysis shouldn't be seen as competing approaches. Instead, they work as complementary tools in modern oilseed plant biotechnology. Lipidomics helps us identify and understand the natural lipid composition found in plants. Metabolic engineering opens the door to creating and producing lipids that don't naturally exist in plants. Biocatalysis, in turn, plays an essential role in converting raw products into a final, value-added form.
