Abstract:
Medi-MOF-1 was constructed from zinc ions and curcumin (Cur). Subsequently, a ZIF-8 shell was grown on the surface of medi-MOF-1 to construct a Zn-based core-shell MOF medi-MOF-1@ZIF-8 (MZ). By loading the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) and the antibacterial agent ciprofloxacin (CIP), medi-MOF-1@ZIF-8-DOX-CIP (MZDC) was prepared. The load amounts of DOX and CIP in MZDC were approximately 25.4 wt% and 11.2 wt%, respectively. MZDC exhibited pH-responsive and temperature-responsive drug release. It inhibited the growth of 4T1 cells and showed good biocompatibility with L929 cells. Besides, MZDC showed antibacterial activity and effectively inhibited 4T1 cell migration. These findings support the potential of the core-shell MOF platform for antitumor applications.
