Abstract:
AbstractAs first-year medical students participating in an ambient AI scribe pilot program for our first-ever standardized patient interviews, we were struck by the challenge of interviewing patients, but even more so by the AI scribe's remarkably comprehensive output. We grappled with feelings of inadequacy and admiration, leading to unexpected competition between us and the AI scribe. Throughout many simulated patient interviews, we attempted to outdo the AI that had stunned us, making substantial growth but still falling short. A real-world patient encounter would eventually uncover our unique capabilities. In the competitive relationship that we developed with AI, we witnessed the potential of improving our skill sets in union with AI and learned how to leverage our competitive advantage.
