Oncogenic KRAS Suppresses IFNγ Signaling in Tumor Cells
1Department of Cancer Immunology and Virology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts.
Abstract:
In this issue, Chen and colleagues show that MHC class II expression by pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) malignant cells is a robust biomarker of both local production of IFNγ from lymphocytes and intact IFNγ signaling. RAS pathway inhibition can restore malignant cell IFNγ responsiveness in some patients, and malignant cell MHC class II expression may indicate which patients could further benefit from immunotherapy. Cancer-Critical Genes II: Tumor Suppressor Genes
When the function of certain critical genes, especially those involved in cell cycle regulation and cell growth signaling cascades, gets disrupted, it upsets the cell cycle progression. Such cells with unchecked cell cycles start proliferating uncontrollably and eventually develop into tumors.

Loss of Tumor Suppressor Gene Functions
When the tumor suppressor genes develop mutations or are lost, cells start growing out of control, leading to cancer. However, a single functional copy of the tumor suppressor gene is enough for the cells to maintain their normal functions and cell...
