Abstract:
We examined whether pupillary diameter (PD) and image count (IC) are associated with detection of ICROP3 parameters in 10,503 eye-sessions from 1,131 infants in the SUNDROP telemedicine program. PD was graded on the anterior segment image as Large (8 mm), Medium (6-7 mm), or Small (≤5 mm). In mixed-effects models adjusted for gestational age, birth weight, and postmenstrual age, smaller PD was associated with Plus disease (Small vs Large: OR 2.41, 95% CI 1.36-4.29) and P-score, and each additional image with higher graded Stage, Plus, and P-score. Among Small pupils, additional images did not improve detection of any parameter.
