Abstract:
A case of a suprasellar neuroblastoma, differentiating subtype in a 23-year-old female is described here. Neuroblastomas are peripheral neuroblastic tumors (pNTs), predominantly occurring in children and primary central nervous system (CNS) pNTs are rare. In the latest WHO classification of the CNS tumors, 'CNS neuroblastoma, FOXR2-activated' has replaced the term CNS neuroblastoma. CNS neuroblastoma, FOXR2-activated is defined by its specific molecular alteration and has been described to have a very suggestive immunohistochemical profile. However, the tumor described here did not show the typical morphological and immunohistochemical features of CNS neuroblastoma, FOXR2-activated. Owing to its location within the CNS, should this neoplasm be considered a CNS neuroblastoma or a pNT? The histopathological differentials of the tumor are discussed along with its comparison to CNS neuroblastoma, FOXR2-activated.
