Background:
No study has specifically addressed the initial supervised experience of novice surgeons using the Hugo RAS system.
Methods:
We retrospectively reviewed patients with prostate cancer receiving robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Console time and blood loss were used as intraoperative variables, while oncological and functional outcomes were evaluated postoperatively.
Results:
In the first 15 cases, both console time and blood loss showed a trend towards improvement as the novice surgeon gained experience using the Hugo RAS system for RARP. Regarding oncological and functional outcomes, 80% of patients achieved an undetectable PSA nadir, and 80% recovered urinary continence within 6 months after surgery.
Conclusion:
Hugo RAS-assisted RARP was feasible during this supervised novice-surgeon experience, with early adaptation in console time and blood loss. However, larger prospective studies with standardized outcome measures are needed to validate these findings.
