Abstract:
Major society guidelines highlight algorithms for the diagnosis, risk stratification, and management of pulmonary embolism to ensure standardized and evidence-based care. However, there are several populations in whom the clinical prediction rules are less applicable or less well validated who warrant additional consideration, including pregnant patients, patients with renal failure, patients with cancer, and elderly patients.
