    Summary

    Enzyme activities decreased significantly in hepatoma tumor cells compared to tumor tissue. No qualitative differences were found between normal liver cells and tumor cells in this study.

    Background:

    • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a significant global health concern.
    • Understanding the metabolic alterations in tumor cells is crucial for developing targeted therapies.
    • Enzyme activity changes can indicate metabolic dysfunction in cancer.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the activity of key metabolic enzymes in thioacetamide-induced primary hepatoma.
    • To compare enzyme activities between tumor tissue and isolated tumor cell suspensions.
    • To identify potential qualitative differences in enzyme function between normal and cancerous liver cells.

    Main Methods:

    • Enzyme activity assays were performed for glucose-6-phosphatase, fructose 1,6-diphosphatase, ornithine transcarbamylase, arginase, and xanthine oxidase.
    • Measurements were conducted on both thioacetamide-induced primary hepatoma tissue and its corresponding tumor cell suspension.

    • These findings highlight the metabolic vulnerability of isolated hepatoma cells and may inform future research into cancer metabolism.
