Rapidly spreading subcutaneous inflammation after "skin popping" in drug addicts
The American Surgeon
|June 1, 1979
Abstract:
A lethal rapidly spreading inflammation and necrosis of subcutaneous fat followed by progressive multiple organ failure is described in two drug addicts after subcutaneous injection of narcotics. The etiology of this process is unknown, but early recognition and extensive surgical debridement may prevent death.
