    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effect of phenformin on kidney ammonia production in patients with adult-type diabetes mellitus.

    • Six patients with adult-type diabetes mellitus were studied.
    • A therapeutic dose of phenformin was administered.
