    Background:

    • Gonadotropin-deficiency (GD) is a condition affecting reproductive hormone production.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of glucose intolerance in patients with GD.
    • To explore the impact of age and disease progression on glucose tolerance in GD patients.

    Main Methods:

    • Oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT) were performed on patients with GD and isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.
    • Insulinogenic index and plasma insulin response were measured.
    • Longitudinal studies assessed changes in glucose tolerance over time.

    Main Results:

    • 26% of GD patients and 15% of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism patients exhibited chemical diabetes via OGTT.

    • Diminished beta-cell function is the primary cause of glucose intolerance in GD.
    • Regular monitoring of glucose metabolism is recommended for individuals with GD.
