    Background:

    • Carcinoid tumors are neoplasms of neuroendocrine cells.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of mucin in carcinoid tumors.
    • To compare tumor-derived mucin with mucin from normal gastrointestinal and respiratory tissues.
    • To re-evaluate the classification and understanding of mixed carcinoid tumors.

    • Histochemical analysis of mucin in 16 carcinoid tumors.
