Frozen section analysis of the lacerated globe

Prolapsed tissues from seven traumatized globes were examined by frozen section prior to primary enucleation or surgical repair. The findings suggest that if retina is identified on such sections, primary enucleation may be justified. If iris, ciliary body, or choroid is found, the decision regarding management must be based on other factors.
