[Proliferation and mitotic performance of lung cancer]

The mitotic pattern and labeling index of cells in different histological types of lung cancer (29 cases) were investigated. The labeling index of undifferentiated (oat- and small-cell) and poorly-differentiated squamous cell carcinomas is thrice that of moderately- and well-differentiated cancer. Simultaneously, the incidence of K-mitoses in squamous cell carcinoma is 2-2.4 times that of undifferentiated cancer, thus pointing to a relatively more pronounced defectiveness of squamous cancer cells multiplication.
