[Detection of Coxsackie virus B in sewage and a correlation with serous meningitis morbidity]
Voprosy Virusologii
|May 1, 1984
Abstract:
The results of parallel virological examinations of sewage from collectors of individual districts, aeration stations, and materials from patients with serous meningitis for 1979-1982 are presented. An attempt was made to determine the relationship between the frequency of detection of enteroviruses, in particular, Coxsackie B1, in sewage and the number of patients with serous meningitis. Enteroviruses isolated from sewage and from patients with serous meningitis were found to be similar by the type composition and seasonal distribution; there was also a relationship between the frequency of their finding in sewage and the number of cases of serous meningitis.
