    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of ranitidine on fibrinolytic activity and key clotting factors.
    • To determine if therapeutic ranitidine doses affect coagulation parameters in ulcer patients.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 36 patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers.
    • Twenty patients received ranitidine, while 16 received a placebo.
    • Assessed parameters included euglobulin lysis time, coagulation time, prothrombin time, thrombin time, fibrinogen level, and platelet count.

    Main Results:

    • Therapeutic doses of ranitidine did not alter euglobulin lysis time.
