    Summary

    Vecuronium, a neuromuscular blocker, safely provided muscle relaxation during cesarean sections without affecting maternal hemodynamics or newborn Apgar scores. It was effectively antagonized, showing no placental transfer concerns.

    Background:

    • Cesarean sections under general anesthesia require effective neuromuscular blockade.
    • Safety and efficacy of neuromuscular blocking agents in parturients are critical.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of vecuronium in parturients undergoing elective cesarean section.
    • To assess the impact of vecuronium on maternal cardiovascular stability and neuromuscular function.
    • To determine if vecuronium crosses the placenta and affects the newborn's Apgar scores.

    Main Methods:

    • 27 parturients received an initial bolus of vecuronium (0.05 mg/kg) followed by incremental doses for maintenance.
