[Changes in the liver after penetration of a stomach ulcer into it (experimental-morphologic study)]

Abstract:
Changes in the liver induced by gastric ulcer penetration were studied in 130 rats. The ulcers were reproduced by the Okaba's method. The penetration entails destruction of the liver capsule, with 4 zones being seen in the organ tissue: necrosis, demarcation, inflammation, necrobiosis and hepatocyte proliferation. Apart from the destructive processes the reparative processes in the parenchyma and in connective tissue develop already in early stages. Active proliferation of hepatocytes and biliary ducts results in the penetration into the granulation tissue of the ulcer fundus. Ulcer healing is followed by a complete recovery of the affected areas of the liver, but gastric commisures remain.
