Therapeutic radiology -- a review
Abstract:
Radiotherapy has played an important role in the curative and palliative treatment of cancer and should continue to do so in the future. As the radiotherapist is concerned with the overall management of the cancer patient, he should be a well trained clinician. Notable advances and improvements in apparatus have taken place recently. Better treatment planning, new forms of after loading techniques, neutron therapy, hyperthermia and other interesting developments are also discussed. With these advances, problems of radiological protection are reviewed and recommendations made from time to time by the International Commission and Radiological Protection to ensure the safety of both staff and patients.
