Abstract:
Clinical experiments have been carried out on a special new perfrigerant probe giving about 10 degrees C tissue hypothermia of the anal canal. In addition to the hypothermic effect, the probe also permits simultaneous topical pharmacological therapy (ointment, irrigations). The association of sedative cryotherapy with topical symptomatic therapy gives good results. Indications are analysed in connection with the main causes of haemorrhoidal pathology.
