[Transurethral resections of the prostate without probe]
Abstract:
The author reports a consecutive series of 100 trans-urethral resections for prostatic hypertrophy with only one stenosis developing in a patient who had a urethral catheter before resection. In 99 patients who had never had a urethral catheter, transurethral resection never caused urethral stenosis. Drainage was ensured via supra-pubic catheter inserted at the start or end of the resection.
