    Summary

    Huntington's disease (HD) patients show reduced auditory and visual evoked potential amplitudes. While peak latencies are similar, early auditory evoked potential (AEP) N100 is faster in HD, and medication may further lower amplitudes.

    Background:

    • Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder.
    • Evoked potentials (EPs) are valuable tools for assessing neural pathway integrity.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) and visual evoked potentials (VEPs) in Huntington's disease patients.
    • To compare EP abnormalities in HD patients with healthy controls.

    Main Methods:

    • Recorded AEPs and VEPs from 15 locations in 21 HD patients and 21 matched controls.
    • Analyzed peak latencies and amplitudes of various EP components.

    Main Results:

    • No significant differences in most peak latencies, except for an earlier AEP N100 peak in HD patients.
