Abstract:
The primary aim of studies on muscle mechanics is to establish relations between variables such as force, length, velocity, and time in the resting and contracted states. These relations in vascular smooth muscle are reviewed in this article and discussed in the light of current knowledge concerning the ultrastructural and biochemical properties of the contractile machinery.
