    Summary

    Psoriasis patients show a significant decrease in suppressor T-cells (T gamma) and an increase in helper T-cells (T mu), altering the helper-suppressor T-cell ratio. This suggests immune system imbalances contribute to psoriasis development.

    Background:

    • Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with suspected immunologic origins.
    • Previous research indicates reduced suppressor T-cell activity in individuals with psoriasis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate if reduced suppressor T-cell activity in psoriasis is due to quantitative changes in T-lymphocyte subpopulations.
    • To compare T-lymphocyte subpopulations between psoriasis patients and healthy controls.

    Main Methods:

    • Randomly selected 20 patients with psoriasis and 20 healthy control subjects.
    • Quantitatively analyzed T-lymphocyte subpopulations, specifically suppressor cells (T gamma) and helper cells (T mu).
    • Calculated the helper-suppressor T-cell ratio (T mu/T gamma).

    Main Results:

    • Psoriatic blood exhibited a significant decrease in the percentage of suppressor T-cells (T gamma).

    • Further research into immune system dysregulation in psoriasis is warranted.
