[Adaptive changes in the myocardium of rats under periodic cooling]
Abstract:
Study of 40 male rats which survived the periodic graded cooling within the temperatures ranging from 4 degrees to -20 degrees C has demonstrated that histologically the hypertrophy of the right ventricle is detectable at the first week, whereas upon separate heart weighing at the 4th week. Dispersion analysis has shown that this hypertrophy is adaptative in character, correlates with the cooling, and gets stabilized by the 5th week of experiment.
