    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the effects of acculturation on lung function among the Inuit population in Igloolik, NWT.
    • To compare lung function parameters between different age groups and over time.
    • To identify factors contributing to observed changes in lung function.

    Main Methods:

    • Cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses of lung function measurements (FVC and FEV1) in 341 Inuit subjects.
    • Comparison of data from current measurements with historical data from 1970-71 (196 subjects).
