    Background:

    • Osteoporosis is a significant health concern in postmenopausal women.
    • Involutional bone loss, particularly in the lumbar spine, is common with aging.
    • Previous Colles' fracture may indicate a predisposition to reduced bone density.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the skeletal effects of a standardized physical training program.
    • To determine if exercise can mitigate bone loss in healthy postmenopausal women.
    • To assess the impact of exercise on bone mineral content in the lumbar spine and forearms.

    Main Methods:

    • A controlled trial with 31 healthy women (50-73 years) with prior Colles' fracture.
    • Participants were randomized into a physical exercise group or a control group.
