Description of a therapeutic approach to pseudoseizures in adolescents

The case histories and short-term (10 to 12 sessions) multifaceted treatment of two male adolescents, manifesting pseudoseizures, are presented. Therapeutic techniques are discussed, and these can be categorized under three headings: a) defining and reframing the problem, b) "easy-out" explanations acceptable to the patient, family, and friends, and c) the patient assumes control.
