[Relaparotomy in a district hospital. Causes and results]

During the last 6 years (1977 to 1982), there were 2,064 cases of abdominal surgery. 85 of our patients (4.1%) underwent relaparotomy, 22 of them twice or more times. The death rate came up to 18.8%. The causes of relaparotomy and the therapeutic measures taken are dealt with in detail.
