[Unknown foreign body of the cranial base]

The authors, after reviewing the literature concerning the foreign bodies of the cranio-facial district, and stating the multiform symptomatology sdown by themselves, describe the case they had the opportunity to observe and resolved through a delicate and investigative operation. The question was of a steel syringe needle, missing the connecting tract, which started from Spix' spine and reached the cranial base after 2 years' migration. As it was possible to reconstruct, it stopped there, with its point between the fibres of the medial pterygoid muscle, its intermediate tract located between the velum palatinum elevating muscle and the velum tensor, while its cranial portion, after transfixing tuba, ran into the petro-squamous slit.
