[Hemiballism treated with valproic acid: report of 2 cases]

Abstract:
Two cases of hemiballismus caused by a vascular lesion are presented. The patients had been on treatment for hypertension and diabetes mellitus for many years. The involuntary movement were completely subsided about one week after a valproic acid trial. The role of hyperglycemia in the appearing of hemiballism or even a spontaneous recovery are also considered.
