    Area of Science:

    • Reproductive Endocrinology
    • Oncology

    Background:

    • Hodgkin's disease treatment can impact reproductive health.
    • Ovarian function is a critical concern for women of fertile age undergoing cancer therapy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess ovarian function in women treated for Hodgkin's disease.
    • To identify factors influencing ovarian function recovery after treatment.

    Main Methods:

    • Evaluation of ovarian function in 10 women treated for Hodgkin's disease.
    • Stratification of patients by age at diagnosis and therapy type (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, total nodal irradiation).

    Main Results:

    • Chemotherapy/radiotherapy group: 66% menstruating, 33% amenorrheic.
    • Total nodal irradiation group: 25% menstruating, 75% amenorrheic.
    • Age <30: 72% menstruating, 28% amenorrheic; Age >30: 100% amenorrheic.

    Conclusions:

    • Predicting ovarian function post-Hodgkin's therapy is complex.
    • Age, pre-therapy ovarian status, and treatment modality are key prognostic factors.
