    Summary

    Two diphosphonates, disodium etidronate (EHDP) and disodium clodronate (Cl2MDP), effectively treated malignant hypercalcemia in six patients. Both drugs showed excellent tolerance, with Cl2MDP being particularly promising for managing bone resorption in cancer.

    Background:

    • Two diphosphonates, disodium etidronate (EHDP) and disodium clodronate (Cl2MDP), were administered to six patients with malignant hypercalcemia.
    • Treatment involved various doses of the drugs.

    Findings:

    • All patients responded positively to both EHDP and Cl2MDP within 2 to 7 days.
    • The drugs were well-tolerated by all participants.
    • Cl2MDP demonstrated particular efficacy, especially in inhibiting bone resorption.

    • EHDP and Cl2MDP are promising therapeutic agents for managing malignant hypercalcemia.
