[Inflammatory lymphadenoid reactions around basocellular epitheliomas].

Context:

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common human cancer.
Understanding the tumor microenvironment is crucial for BCC prognosis.
Inflammatory responses in BCCs can influence disease progression.

Purpose:

To investigate the occurrence and characteristics of lymphadenoid reactions in basal cell carcinomas.
To correlate the presence of these reactions with tumor type, location, and invasiveness.

Summary:

A histological analysis of 3,960 basal cell carcinomas revealed a lymphadenoid reaction with germinative centers in 2% of cases.
This reaction was predominantly observed around aggressive, ulcerated BCCs on the face and neck, particularly in the peri-auricular region.
