Acute colchicine poisoning presenting as symptomatic hypocalcaemia

Symptomatic hypocalcaemia was the dominant feature of acute colchicine poisoning in a young female with periodic polyserositis. Experimental data suggest that colchicine-induced hypocalcaemia is secondary to colchicine inhibition of bone resorption.
