Abstract:
We have reported a case of fatal perforation of the intrapericardial aorta during attempted subclavian venipuncture through the infraclavicular route in a patient with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. The case illustrates the importance of having the procedure done only by personnel experienced in the technique, even in emergency situations.
