    Summary

    Treadmill exercise in rats shows deep body temperature (Tco) rises with oxygen uptake (VO2) during incremental exercise, but this rise is unrelated to exercise intensity. Thermal equilibrium is only achieved at low work rates in cool environments.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between deep body temperature and work rate during treadmill exercise in rats.
    • To assess the influence of ambient temperature on thermoregulatory responses during exercise.

    • Female Sprague-Dawley rats underwent incremental and single-stage treadmill exercise.
    • Oxygen uptake (VO2) was measured to assess exercise intensity.
    • Colonic (Tco) and tail-skin (Tsk) temperatures were recorded in cool (22-25°C) and warm (33-35°C) environments.
