A simple method for the measurement of pineal melatonin with a high performance liquid chromatography--UV detection

A new technique for determination of pineal melatonin by a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection has been developed. The melatonin level in the pineal glands of normal and orchidectomized rats was measured by this method. The pineal melatonin level gradually decreased after orchidectomy. This method provides new technique for the study of melatonin in endocrinological pharmacology.
