    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the correlation between basal serum C-peptide concentrations and the severity of diabetic retinopathy.
    • To evaluate C-peptide levels as a potential predictor for proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

    • Basal serum C-peptide concentrations were measured in adult males attending a diabetic retinopathy clinic.

    • Monitoring C-peptide levels, particularly after five years of insulin-dependent diabetes, could aid in risk stratification.
