Postoperative retinal breaks occurring after intravitreal silicone oil injection

The authors report the occurrence of new retinal breaks in the immediate postoperative period following pars plana vitrectomy and intravitreal infusion of silicone oil for advanced proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). This postoperative complication is important to recognize in light of the renewed interest in the use of silicone oil for the treatment of PVR.
