    Summary

    Iohexol, a contrast medium, demonstrated superior safety and diagnostic information compared to meglumine-Na diatrizoate in pediatric urography. No adverse events were noted with iohexol, unlike diatrizoate, which caused reactions in three patients.

    Background:

    • Contrast agents are essential for diagnostic imaging in pediatrics.
    • Iohexol and meglumine-Na diatrizoate are commonly used iodinated contrast media.
    • Assessing the safety and efficacy of contrast agents in pediatric populations is crucial.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the safety and diagnostic efficacy of iohexol versus meglumine-Na diatrizoate in pediatric urography.
    • To evaluate patient reactions and clinical laboratory findings associated with each contrast agent.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized, single-blind, parallel study was conducted.
    • Pediatric patients undergoing urography received either iohexol (300 mg I/ml) or meglumine-Na diatrizoate (290 mg I/ml).
    • Clinical laboratory parameters (blood and urine) and patient reactions were monitored.
