Abstract:
One of the most serious manifestations of hereditary angioneurotic edema is the occurrence of an acute airway obstruction due to laryngeal edema. The anesthetic technique of choice is a conduction rather than an intubation anesthesia. In the treatment of an acute attack steroids and antihistamines are commonly ineffective. Specific prophylactic and therapeutic measures involving the infusion of fresh-frozen plasma and treatment with Danazol are described.
