[Genetic aspects of risk factors with particular reference to ischemic heart disease (author's transl)]
Abstract:
Ischemic heart diseases are of a polyetiological nature. Primarily they appear to be consequences of "psychosocial factors". Genetic influences are also of importance. Epidemiological studies and investigations of twins, families and blood groups support this. Members of blood group A carry a disease risk 18% higher than blood group 0. The extent of the genetic partial factors cannot be estimated at present. In addition atherosclerosis is presumably genetically heterogenous. This communal cause should be taken into consideration for prevention in the sense of "genetic individual prognosis and prophylaxis".
