Multiple myeloma with an IgD kappa monoclonal protein

The case of a female patient with multiple myeloma in whom the circulating monoclonal protein was IgD with kappa light chains is presented. The case is extremely unusual and serves to emphasize how little is known about the function, metabolism, and regulation of immunoglobulin D.
