Abstract:
The results of surgery on 20 patients with pharyngeal pouches are reported. The small pouch less than 2 cm long is treated by cricomyotomy only, the larger pouch up to 7 cm long is treated by cricomyotomy and invagination of the pouch, and those that are larger than this are excised. The skin incision used is in a natural skin crease at the level of the cricoid cartilage.
